Reading is a calm activity that is also good for your brain–painting out scenarios in your head of what’s happening in the book and being surprised at what comes next. Nowadays, it’s kind of hard to get into a good book when we are so busy–or when we are scrolling TikTok for hours! Check out some of these suggestions and give your brain a little workout–and your scrolling a little rest!

Shannon Quay, Language Arts Teacher:
“Right now, I’m reading *Little Women* for the first time ever in my life. I’ve never read *Little Women* before, and it’s so many people’s favorite book. So I’m excited to read it for the first time.”

Emily Roberts, 12:
“*Frankenstein*. I think it’s worth a read as long as you don’t mind a very long internal monologue. Out of the books I have ever read for English class, it’s definitely the best.”

Emily Thorngren, 11:
“I’m reading *A Court of Thorns and Roses*. I’m almost done with it. The main character starts developing more and becoming her new self. It’s really interesting.”

“I’m reading the *Two Your Eternity* manga, volume 13, and the entirety of the *Death Note* manga. They’re really good.”

Lillian Morrison, 12: “I’m reading *The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store*. It’s pretty good so far. I’m not super into it, but it’s been a fun read.” (Jasmine Rivas)

“I’m reading *A Thousand Splendid Suns* for my English class, and I think it’s a really good book. It has a lot of ups and downs–definitely a rollercoaster book.”
