Were you hoping to have an unforgettable summer this year, but you’re stuck on what that might look like?
As the school year comes to an end and summer is getting closer, there are so many things you can do! While planning out what to do could be overwhelming there are many ideas you might put on your summer bucket list.
Volunteering
Volunteering has so many benefits for both you and the organization you choose. It helps build social relationships, leadership skills, and it helps the community. Think about helping the homeless, animals, or the environment. Check out one of these volunteer programs:
NextGenServe allows teens to explore career paths and work in different areas such as natural areas and parks or even gardens.
If you like animals, another volunteer program is NOCO humane, an animal shelter.
There are many more places to volunteer that can be found at fortcollins.gov.
Start a New Hobby
Want to do something new? Try out a new hobby! Trying a new hobby can help mentally and physically. Hobbies also help build creativity and it’s so satisfying to create something.. Hobbies to consider are painting, pottery, or crocheting, rhinestone painting, needle felting, or pipe cleaner sculptures.
Fort Collins offers many classes to learn something new and there are countless crafting videos on YouTube that you can check out.
Nature Activities
Are you a more adventurous type ? Go out and explore the world around you. Fort Collins is full of outdoor activities. It’s easy to find a hike that matches your skill level, but consider other outdoor activities like kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, or swimming in the Poudre. These are great activities to invite friends or family to go with you.
Being outdoors improves your mental health and well-being. Too hot during the day? There are nighttime activities you can do outside, too. Go stargazing or try camping.
Get a Summer Job
If making money is one of your summer goals,, you should start applying for jobs as soon as possible. Many businesses are seeking employees for seasonal help around this time, like retail, food service, or camp counselor. You can see Mr. Papp for suggestions or check out Xello. Here are some businesses and positions that are currently hiring:
Start thinking now about trying out things you haven’t tried before. Make a plan now so that you aren’t disappointed. Go outside, explore, help out! You can make this summer unforgettable.
Have a great summer idea? Leave it in a comment. 🙂
