Standardized Testing Information

As spring quarter nears, so does standardized testing. The tests might change, but student participation is key.

This year’s testing dates are April 10, 11. On Tuesday, April 10 juniors will take the SAT and sophomores will take the PSAT10. Both tests are valuable to students and can help with college placement.

Rocky provides multiple opportunities to get testing help should students desire it. Because these tests can help students get into college, they may want to work on raising their scores and taking them more seriously.

On Wednesday, April 11, freshmen will take the PSAT9 and juniors will take the CMAS Science. These tests show students’ knowledge from the classes they have taken.

Kids may also opt out of these test with a form on Rocky’s home page under “Assessments Information.” They need to fill out this form for the test which they will be opting out of and a parent’s signature is required on the form.

These exams reflect both the student’s individual learning and the learning of the school as a whole. While students may choose to opt out, it is helpful to the school to have accurate data on the students. Teacher evaluations are tied to test scores and the district looks at individual school scores. It’s important to the Rocky community for kids to take the exams, though they may be tedious.

Testing is at 7:30 am to 12:20 pm. On Tuesday, first and second periods will be 70 minutes each and will start after lunch at 12:20 pm. On Wednesday, the third and fourth period will be 90 minutes each and start at 11:40 am.

Students should take note of this schedule, as it may conflict with Front Range schedules. Classes will run normally on Monday and Thursday. Friday April 13 there is no school.
