With the theme announced and tickets going on sale, prom season is in full swing!
This brings the stress of finding a dress/suit, shoes, dinner spots, hair, and making sure everything is just right, but there is a way to survive it all and have a great time!
Rocky’s “Carnaval” prom is on April 18th, at 8:00 pm at Canvas Stadium.
Finding the perfect dress or suit can be crucial to feeling your best on prom night. FoCo has some dress locations you can go to try and find your perfect dress. One of those places would be Cira Limited Boutique in Old Town. Their dresses are unique and they have a list of dresses that are purchased from your school so there is no chance of matching with another student from Rocky. Their price range is very wide, some dresses will be higher for things like gems, flowers, and detailed extras.
If you want a large selection of dresses and don’t mind a drive, Macy’s at Centerra has many to choose from in various styles and colors. Dresses are typically priced anywhere from around $100 to over $300.
If you are more interested in buying online to find a specific style, online stores like Windsor, Lucy In the Sky, Princess Polly, Sherri Hill, are usually reliable, especially when you know your sizing before purchasing. They can also be much more affordable.
If you’re planning on wearing a suit or tux to prom, Men’s Warehouse on College has many options in various colors, sizes, and is a reliable option to find what you are looking for. Macy’s is another good option. Even thrift stores can be a good resource for suits, shirts and ties–depending on your style.
Flowers are a very important part of any prom experience. Making a bouquet can be a fun before prom activity and really ties together any prom outfit. Trader Joe’s has a beautiful flower display all year round that you can pick and make your own bouquet for the perfect pictures.
Another flower option could be to find a local store that makes bouquets for you. Sometimes there’s simply just not enough time or if you want a specific bouquet; they can make it for you! Palmer Flowers would is a great local option for a handmade bouquet. Even King Soopers and Whole Foods have beautiful flowers and you can pick up a boutonniere for your suit as well.
If you want your flowers to be a keepsake or don’t want to have to worry about keeping them alive, Hobby Lobby and Michaels have fake flowers and bouquets that you could use to create the perfect forever bouquet.
Finding a dinner spot for large groups or even two people can be a struggle. While there is no pressure to go out and have a fancy dinner, some options could be The Still Whiskey Steaks, Nick’s Italian, RARE Italian, Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar, and The Farmhouse at Jessup Farms. However, there is no pressure to spend a lot of money. Go anywhere you like and it’s just fun to be dressed up and out with your friends. Or, you can even make a fancy dinner at home–have everyone bring a dish and plan something fun.
Once prom is over, there may be pressure to go out or participate in things you may not be comfortable with. Instead, consider Rocky’s free After Prom hosted by junior parents. It starts at 10:30 pm and goes until 1:30 am at Rocky in the gym and on the Rocks. There will be games, food, and raffles for prizes. Even if you don’t choose to go to prom, you can attend After Prom. It is a much more casual, but still a really fun event!

Nice that you gave people options of how to get a dress.
