Seniors, CONGRATULATIONS! You’re almost there, but there are a lot of important things still happening in May!
These are the important dates to keep in mind. Also, as the end of the year approaches, graduating students should remember to regularly check their email for important updates and announcements.
Cap and gown distribution will be on May 6th, in the Lobo Hall. Students should pick up their graduation attire between 12:15 pm and 3:00 pm. Voting for the torchbearer will also take place in the Lobo Hall during this time.
The cording ceremony will be in the auditorium from 12:10 pm – 1:00 pm on May 14th. Yearbooks will begin distribution after school, and seniors are expected to pick up their copies in Lobo Hall. There will be no school on Friday, the 15th, due to a staff workday.
May 19th will be 3rd and 4th period finals. May 20th will be 1st and 2nd period finals.
In addition to finals, there will be the RMHS Scholarship Celebration at 8:30am on Wednesday, May 20, in the gym, recognizing students who have received scholarships. This is by invite only and you should have let them know in Student Services if you were getting a scholarship.
On the 21st, students must arrive at 8:00 am for the mandatory graduation rehearsal in the main gym. Convocation will begin after that. Seniors will wear their gowns, but no caps..
Following Convocation, seniors will check out and head to the senior picnic at Roland Moore Park for free food and fun. Laptops and chargers must be returned before students head out.
Later that afternoon, graduation practice at Moby Arena will begin at 3:15 pm.
Finally, May 23rd is graduation at Moby Arena. All seniors must arrive by 12:00 pm, and the ceremony begins at 1:00 pm. For family members and friends who can’t attend, PSD will provide a livestream on that day.
Some rules to follow that day:
– Do not bring anything that will disrupt the ceremony, no noise makers like airhorns or cowbells, beachballs, confetti poppers, etc.
– Clear bag policy, so bring a purse or bag that’s transparent.
– Dress appropriately under the gown. The administration emphasizes dressing business casual, so don’t wear jeans, shorts, athletic shoes, or other inappropriate attire for the ceremony. Heels are not recommended, but flat shoes and sandals are recommended.
– Robes must be zipped up for the entire ceremony, and caps should not be decorated.
– The school recognizes students who have received cords and other regalia from outside groups but asks for Rocky-issued cords, stoles, medals, and pins only at the ceremony.
– Make smart and safe decisions at the ceremony.
As graduation approaches, it’s important to stay informed and continue strong until May 23rd. A smooth and successful graduation can be achieved if students continue to follow rules and keep up to date with events. Check your emails for important information and updates! It’s the time to celebrate and savor these final moments— good luck, seniors!
