Start Your Spring Cleaning

Spring is here, ladies and gentlemen, and the spring cleaning must now begin! Here is an organizing checklist with tips and tricks on how to get a good, deep spring cleaning in!

To begin, get the laundry baskets out because you’re finally going to pick up all of those dirty clothes sitting in your closet and around your floor. This will clear out the space to see exactly what your part of your house and which rooms need the most organizing.

Next, grab the vacuum and start by vacuuming the newly cleared floor. Then move up and start to vacuum light fixtures, corners, and other places where dust collects. This gets rid of those dust bunnies that built up over the winter time.

Speaking of winter, the fridge is most likely full of leftovers and old food and has stains all over the shelves. A good way to get those stains out is by cleaning out leftovers that nobody has eaten, as well as talking all of the food out to clean the fridge. Take a sponge in warm water and dish soap to clean

off the shelves. For those stubborn stains, you will need baking soda. Set the baking soda over the stain let it sit for a minute then wipe the area with a warm wet sponge.

Now that it is spring, you won’t be making as much soup as it gets warmer outside. Those stove tops could use a good cleaning from all the soups you were making during the winter! A good way to get out those stains is one tablespoon of salt with a tablespoon of baking soda and with that add a tablespoon of warm water. This makes a paste-like substance to which you can take a rag and scrub away at those dirty old food stains.

Organization is the key to knowing where your stuff is and where it should be. Head to that closet of yours and break out the trash bags and boxes. Start by going through all of the clothes that are “so last year” and throw them into a bag or box and give them to Goodwill, ARC, or Plato’s Closet! This should clear up all of the space you need. A good tip is to put out the clothes for each season so you don’t have all four seasons of clothes in your closet at all times. Put different seasons into different boxes and put them under your bed, in the basement, or in a storage unit. Use this same tip for shoes as well.
