Preparing for SATs

Time is flying by and the SATs are approaching quickly, but there are a few ways you can prepare for this big test. When preparing for the SATs, don’t wait until the last minute to study:, prioritize your time so that you aren’t cramming at the last minute.

Start by taking practice tests and score yourself on each one to see your growth throughout each test or your problem areas. Understanding the format and overall structure of the exam while also learning the content and feel of the exam are important because the SATs test different areas of your knowledge and you’ll want to know what scores you’re shooting for. You can find online SAT prep tests on Khan Academy and College Board.

Check out your latest PSAT scores and set a goal for yourself to increase those scores. Setting goals may seem like a stretch, but actually setting a goal for yourself could increase motivation and confidence, which are two key aspects to major exams like these.

As much as you may want to do well on this exam, studying all day and night for it won’t help as much as you think. Maintaining your self-care is also a very important thing to keep in mind. If you’re staying up all night studying for the exam and missing sleep, you’re more likely to be less focused during the exam.

Food is also essential; this is what fuels your brain to succeed. Breakfast is extremely  important on exam day. Some foods that are good include: fruits, oatmeal, peanut butter on toast, a good cereal.. If you aren’t a hungry eater in the morning, smoothies are always a great option because  it’s best to have something in the morning.

As long as you prioritize your time, relax, study, focus on doing well, and have some food/drink in the morning, then you shouldn’t worry or stress about the tests. Good luck!
