Spring sports have finally arrived! As tryouts finish up and schedules come out, teams will prepare to dominate their season. These are the games and athletes you should keep an eye out for.
Girls Soccer
Rocky’s women’s team will have a total of 15 games, with the two being league crossover games. They will host one scrimmage at the very beginning of the season against Legacy. Crosstown rival games will be held 3/10 against Poudre, 4/11 against Fort Collins, and 4/16 against Fossil. Players you will want to watch for are Jace Holley, 12th, and Ali Warner, 12th.
Unified Soccer
The Lobos Unified soccer team will have a total of five crosstown rival games! They will play away at Poudre on 3/28, away at Timnath on 4/3, away at Fossil on 4/10, home against Wellington on 4/17, home against Fort Collins on 4/23, and compete in the District Tournament at Poudre on 5/4. Make sure you keep an eye out for all athletes, but especially our seniors for their senior season!
Boys and Girls Lacrosse
The lacrosse program is a part of the PSD Stars–they are one of several district teams who have players from Rocky, Fossil, Fort Collins, Poudre, Timnath, and other local schools.
Girls Lacrosse will have a total of 16 games and will attend a scrimmage on 3/2. Since all PSD schools are on the same team, their rival games will be on 3/7 against Palmer Ridge and 4/4 against Regis. Some players to keep an eye out for are Kendall VanMeveren from Fort Collins, Kate Wind from Fossil, and Ruby Money from Fossil. In addition, you can watch Rocky students Emma Harriman, 12th, Allison Hohweiler, 11th, Genevieve Karpiel, 11th, and Alyssa Johnston, 9th.
Boys Lacrosse will have a total of 15 games this season. Rivalry games will be against Windsor on 3/20, Denver East on 4/02, Thompson Valley on 4/4, Mountain Range on 4/12, Ralston Valley on 4/24, and Monarch on 4/27. Athletes to look for on the field are Ryan VanAllensburg from Rocky, Cody Arnet from Rocky, Colton Pawlak from Fossil, Jack McKeon from Fort Collins, and Trenton Kincaid from Fossil. Some Lobos to look out for on the field are Ryan Van Alsburg, 10th, Cody Arnet, 11th, and Aidan LaGaurdia, 11th.
Boys Volleyball
The volleyball program is also a PSD Stars team. The program is housed at Fossil.
The Stars will have a total of 17 matches this season, with two of those being weekend tournaments. Crosstown games are Greely Central on 3/21, Thornton on 3/26, and Riverdale Ridge on 4/9. Make sure to keep an eye out for Drake Solley, 10th, and Isaac Williams, 10th, on JV, Callen Solley, 10th, and Luke Stewart, 10th, on C-team, and Jan Sanner, 10th, on D-team, these students are representing Rocky in the Stars program.
Track and Field
Rocky’s track and field team this year will be participating in 14 meets. They will be hosting two: the Runners Roost on 3/22 and Conference on 5/1 and 5/3. Some of their biggest meets this season will be the Jack Christiansen on 3/29-3/30, Stutler Bowl Twilight meet on 4/27, the Conference on 5/1 and 5/3, and State for those who make it on 5/16-5/18. Girls Golf
Girls Golf this year is combined with Poudre and will have a total of eight matches, with one match being a fundraiser for the program. Important matches for this year will be the League Match on March 4 and 5/1. Golfers you should watch out for this season are Ella Luttenbacher, 11th, Claire Lasher, 11th, and Ava Giovando, 10th.
Boys Swim and Dive
Boys swim and dive will have a total of 13 meets. Their biggest meets of the season are the Mustang Invite and the League Meet. A swimmer to keep an eye out for is Samuel Loftstrom, 10th, who was a nationally ranked swimmer in his current high school career.
Girls Tennis
Rocky’s tennis team this season will have six matches, two invitational matches, and one tournament match. Their crosstown rivals will be on 3/26 against Fossil, 3/28 against Fort Collins, and 4/4 against Poudre. Some players you should watch are Izzy Poduska, 12th, Izzy Kinder, 12th, Faith Galyardt, 10th, Ainsley Cunningham, 9th, and Emma Praver, 9th.
Baseball
The Lobos baseball team will have a total of 20 games this season, hosting their first game against Douglas County on 3/14. Their next game they will play at Coors Field on 3/20 against Severance. Crosstown rival games will be played on 4/18 against Poudre, 5/3 against Fort Collins, and 5/7 against Fossil. Players to look out for this season are Ross Frank, 11th, Wrigley Cox, 10th, Kirin Lawing, 12th, and Ben Kaczkowski, 11th.
