Hockey is a fun and unique sport, and very popular entertainment for fans. Because each High School in PSD does not have enough players for their own team, they compete together as the Poudre School District Stars ice hockey team.
There are several Stars teams (field hockey, gymnastics, lacrosse, etc.) that allow students to participate in sports that they love even though they don’t have a school team.
The PSD Stars hockey team is made up of players from Poudre School District, Thompson School District, RE-4 District, RE-5 District. This year’s team is having a winning season, after winning only one regular season game last year.
On Friday, January 27th, the boys were on the ice at their home rink, Noco Ice Center. The game against Cherry Creek resulted in a tie game, 5-5, even after one period of overtime.
Because the team is made up of many schools across Northern Colorado, their fans are from all over too. This allows for all the schools to come together and support their classmates.
Players will continue to play multiple playoff games throughout the season, allowing for many more opportunities to catch the Stars on the ice this season.
Their next home games are Saturday, February 10, and Saturday, February 17, at Noco Ice Arena in Windsor, 7900 N Fairgrounds Ave. Times are still to be determined.
So far the Stars have had a rather successful season, with eight wins, four losses and one tie. Below is the ranking of Colorado high school teams, putting The Stars 5th in the state.

“We love having people come out and support us, it means a lot to a small organization,” Rocky defenseman Eli Brackeen said.
The Stars have a varsity, JV and C team–all seeing successful seasons this year. Brackeen is playing his second season of varsity hockey.
“I’m proud of us and we are having lots of fun,” Brackeen said.
