The stands shook Tuesday night at Rocky as the Bo’s took the win against cross-town rival Poudre! The final score was 64-45, with the leading scorers of the game being Daniel Mbadinga and Maddox Base.
Rocky’s overall season so far is middling. Their current record is 9-7, playing schools like Regis Jesuit, Cherry Creek, Highlands Ranch, and others in out-of-conference play. League play is a whole different game. Playing in the 6A Front Range league, they stand a strong second with a record of 7-1. Most recent rankings show that they are 84 in Colorado and 33 in the 6A Colorado Division.
The lead scorer for the Lobos is sophomore Peyton Matkin, averaging 12.6 points per game. Sophomore Daniel Mbadinga holds the most rebounds with 6.6 per game, and junior Avantae Hood leads the team in rebounds with 3.6 per game.
“I want us to be top three in conference by the end of the season,” junior Avantae Hood said.
While Rocky’s program has big goals, Poudre’s program is not up to par this year. Their overall record is 4-14, with wins from Greeley West, Greeley Central, Standley Lake, and Boulder. In the 6A Front Range league, their record is 1-9, making them last in the league. They have won two of their five home games and two of their six away games. They are 215 in Colorado and 50 in the 6A division.
The leading scorer for the Impalas is Kaden Cox, averaging 12.4 a game, rebounds are held by Luke Foster with 8.2 per game, and Blake Brewster carries the most assists with 1.8 per game.
Fort Collins is similar to Rocky. The records are almost identical, with Fort Collins being 9-6 overall, playing one less game than the Lobos, and sitting at 5-2 in the Front Range league. They are in sixth place–in front of Poudre and behind Fossil and Rocky. The Lambkins are 61 in Colorado and 27 in the 6A league.
Jayce King leads Fort Collins in points with 31.1 points per game, Jackson Folkstead holds the most rebounds at 5.2 per game, and Dmarco Sanchez-Ferguson leads the team with the most assists, 3.7 per game.
Fossil has been pretty successful this season, too. With an overall record of 12-5 and a league record of 7-2. In the Front Range league, they are placed at fourth, a couple spots behind the Lobos. Their placeholders are 33 in Colorado and 16 in the 6A Division.
Eli Nutting leads the Sabercats in points, rebounds, and assists. 14.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists per game.
Fort Collins and Fossil boys and girls teams had their own cross-town rival reunion on Tuesday as well. The Fossil boys game resulted in a win with a final score of 65-55, whereas the girls game emerged to a loss, 65-50.
Like the boys, Rocky’s girls team also had a very thrilling win against Poudre, with their final score being 54-38. Missed these games?
