What’s Cluckin’ with Chicken’nCone
Chicken’n Cone is a brand new chicken shack located at 234 N College Ave, Fort Collins, CO 80524 in Old Town.
When I first walked up, I was surprised about the fact that it was just a small space rather than an actual restaurant. The whole area is made up of shipping containers that have been converted into shops and restaurants.
Chicken’nCone has a small menu of chicken items, each of which include a sauce. All of the chicken options are $8.99. The sauce options are Kick’n Ranch, Yella BBQ, Traditional BBQ, Cinna-Maple, Buffalo Blue, and Peri Peri.
I ordered the Yella BBQ and it was a spicy honey mustard sauce. I also had the chance to try the Buffalo Blue, so those who love spicy food, this is your best bet. It took about five minutes for the owner to make the chicken and place it in the ice cream waffle cone.
The entire atmosphere surrounding Chicken’n Cone is fabulous. It is surrounded by an ice cream shop, a bar, and an open grass area where you can play corn hole. It’s a fun place to hang out and eat.
Senior Jenna Giffin is a vegetarian so she ordered the French fries ($4) and said, “These are more than just fries!” She thought the seasoning on the fries was amazing. Cody Sexton, also senior, needed some milk with his spicy Buffalo Blue Chicken’n Cone. They do offer drinks ($2), but milk was not on the menu. For the holidays, they have a limited time cone–Crispy chicken smothered in rosemary and sage chicken gravy, sprinkled with craisins.
Sure, this Chicken and Cone combo is amazing, but Chicken’n Cone’s location is ideal for the small town feel it gives off. The small courtyard that Chicken’n Cone is a part of brings the right vibe to the food and wonderful evening it is easy to have in this part of our town. They are opened daily from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm.
