Jayda Ratzlaff had no idea that she would discover what she was meant to do with her life when she turned eighteen.
Jayda Ratzlaff is currently a senior at Rocky Mountain High School. While she is doing all the senior year things like football games and dances Jayda is ready for bigger and better things.
“For me, work overpowers my school life but in a healthy way,” Jayda said.
Jayda took one class at high school and graduated a semester early. What is taking up her time is her new job as a Monat market partner.
Monat, standing for Modern Nature, is a luxury haircare, skincare, wellness, and makeup company. Made with all-natural products this company uses people like Jayda to promote their products.
“I have my own business through it,” Jayda said. “When you get set up as a market partner you get a website.”
Through this website, you get customers who buy Monat products. For every purchase, Jayda gets a percentage of each product sold. Along with selling products, Jayda gets a bonus when she adds on market partners. To get people interested in Monat’s products she posts on Instagram every day to gain a following and informs people about the benefits of the different products that Monat offers.
Since Jayda had to be at least eighteen to join the Monat team, she officially joined in September 2023 and has been employed by them for three months.
Her birthday is not the first time she has heard about Monat. For six years her mom Cory Ratzlaff has been a partner with Monat. Jayda grew up knowing about Monat but she never thought of it as a career until she went with her mom to Monations, a conference where all the Monat partners get together and celebrate. This year’s was in Los Angeles. While there, Jayda “saw the potential for how easy it is to make it super successful.”
Since joining, Jayda has worked hard to post a video every day along with learning all the tips and tricks on how to market. Monat provides its partners with training videos. All of her work is online, but Monat is big about community. With Monations every year along with in-person events and parties as well as Zoom meetings, Jayda has not felt isolated with her work.
Like any new thing, Jayda has found herself having to get over learning curves and disappointments.
“A Lot of people care about their hair,” Jayda said. “It’s hard to sell to someone who is hesitant about their hair.”
Jayda also has an interesting situation because her mom is also a Market Partner.
“She has already signed up people we know, so I have to find new people rather than easy people,” Jayda explained.
But this has not stopped Jayda. One of her favorite moments was signing up her first Market Partner. It was during a pickleball game with one of her best friends. Not even talking about Monat, her friend told her she was thinking about signing up.
“I was so excited,” Jayda said. “A few weeks later I signed up my other friend.”
Jayda works hard at her business and wants to make a career out of what she is doing and learning.
Jayda is planning on attending cosmetology school after a gap year. She wants to work as a cosmetologist who uses Monat products. That way she can keep with the company and promote it more because she will have clients through being a cosmetologist. Her biggest advice for people like her is to “know that it might be scary to start a business, but you are never too young to start something big.”
