Look to the Lyric for fun this summer
Everyone in Fort Collins knows of the Lyric. It’s yet another one of Fort Collins’ great, locally owned businesses. You may know of the Lyric for their cartoons and cereal every Saturday, or because it’s the only movie theater where you can watch new movies alongside the classics.
What you may not know about the Lyric, is that they show outdoor movies, too! The outdoor movies are shown on the Lyric’s large outdoor screen, which they call “The Great Outdoors.”
Moviegoers can check the Lyric’s website to see which movies will be shown in the great outdoors, showtimes, and prices.
The outdoor movies’ sound will be broadcast through the radio. Moviegoers are encouraged to bring their own portable FM radios. A limited number of radios will also be available to rent for $4.
The movies will be projected out of the theater’s vintage fire truck. Moviegoers are allowed to bring low-rise lawn chairs, blankets and even pillows.
Unfortunately, only service animals will be allowed.
The Lyric began their outdoor movies in August 2018. The 2019 season started in mid-April, with “Monty Python’s Life of Brian.”
Just like their indoor screens, the Lyric’s outdoor screen will show a mix of new releases and classics.
Some of the new releases include: Bohemian Rhapsody, Us, and Avengers: Endgame. Some classics that will be shown over the summer include: Lord of the Rings, Jaws, Mama Mia, and all the Harry Potter movies.
No outside food or drink will be permitted. There will be concessions available with profit benefiting the theater.
Be sure to check the Lyric’s website for more information, and attend these showings with friends!
