As the school year begins, Rocky traditions are making a comeback! This means sports games, giving back, and ,of course, senior traditions. Parking lot painting is one of the Rocky traditions for the graduating class to leave their mark
This year’s senior parking lot painting is on Sunday, September 14, 2025. The cost to paint a parking spot is $25 which goes towards the Lobo Fund. Seniors need to turn in their money and finalize the design and get approval for it by Thursday, September 11.
Assistant principal Mrs. Nickel manages and helps with this tradition of senior parking lot painting and she really enjoys it.
“I like the personal expression of different students’ designs,” Nickel said.
This idea was proposed in 2019, but Rocky did not receive approval to do so. After COVID, the idea was revisited and then approved, becoming a tradition for Rocky’s seniors. This year marks the fourth year of this tradition.
Mrs. Nickel’s goal for this year’s parking lot painting is to have a record number of seniors paint the parking lot.
“I’m excited to be able to leave a little piece of my legacy at Rocky through a parking spot,” senior Lacy Williams said.
