It happens like clockwork! Every year in May, the seniors graduate from Rocky Mountain High School, and as they move on they are celebrated and missed.
At 9:00 am on Saturday, May 24, 410 seniors walked the stage at CSU’s Moby Arena.
“I didn’t realize they would be gone until it hit me, so I cried a lot. Most of my friend group was seniors, but now they are gone,” Rocky junior Princess Palacios said.
When seniors graduate, there are mixed feelings amongst underclassmen. Some of these feelings are sadness because senior friends are leaving, but there is also excitement to move up to the next grade level.
Seniors are leaders in the Lobo community putting together events like senior assassin, Battle of the ‘Bos, and senior sunrise. Seniors are the role models for incoming students and underclassmen.
“As seniors you hold that responsibility of how you pick others up and how you show the Lobo way. Seniors carry the weight of our tradition and culture and show that in how they lead–some will do that in front of others and some will do that behind the scene. That’s something we challenge each senior class with,” Rocky Admin Conrad Crist said.
“Seniors have helped me through the year, providing information I needed to know and what is right and what is wrong coming into high school,” Rocky freshman Sara Davis said.
Stuco had eight seniors graduate and will have roles to fill. The 2024-2025 Stuco president was Daniel Mitchell. Current junior Rose Kensora will be taking his place next year. The Student Body presidents will be Leksi Rhodes and Reese Riddell.
It is time to say goodbye to the class of 2025, but now it is time for the class of 2026 to step up; it’s your turn.
