Rocky Baseball at Coors Field

Rocky’s varsity baseball team kicked off their season Wednesday, March 21, with an 8-3 win at Coors Field in Denver against the Cherokee Trail Cougars. This was a great start for our Bo’s and brings the team up to third in the state.

In order to have this opportunity to play at Coors, the Bo’s had to sell Rockies baseball tickets to raise funds. Coach Bullock said that for any baseball fan, nothing compares to the feeling of stepping on a pro field, much less being able to play an actual game on it. For these players, win or lose the opportunity was an amazing one.

In his pregame interview, centerfielder Hayden Heinze said that although he couldn’t predict the exact outcome of the game, he was confident in his teammates and how hard they had pushed themselves. This was showcased in their win.

Although Coors Field is different than their practice fields here at Rocky, the boys dominated the game, only allowing three runs–an impressive accomplishment.

Most players dream of going pro, so getting the feeling of playing at Coors, a feeling that only professional players get to feel, must have been exhilarating.

The team is proud of their successful first game and will be carrying that pride and confidence with them as they travel to California to continue to play. Best of luck on continuing successful season, Bos!
